320kW Totnes Project commissioned on schedule
A 320kW twin screw project was successfully commissioned in the centre of Totnes in Dec 2015, and is now generating 15% more power than expected. The system is on the very last weir on the river Dart (that already has two other operating Archimedean screw systems upstream), and is unusual in that the tailwater is affected by the tide. This of course reduces the operating head, but not the system efficiency so the project is already well ahead of its predicted energy capture.
